J.T., one of the heaviest patients in 'My 600-lb Life' history, has made significant improvement in his weight loss journey. Here is how he looks now.
*Warning: Spoilers for J.T.'s episode of My 600-lb Life*
The Gist:
- Julius Clark, who goes by J.T., is one of the heaviest individuals to appear on My 600-lb Life.
- During the show, J.T. weighted nearly 900 pounds, but managed to cut his weight almost by half after.
- Today, J.T.'s updated Facebook profile picture reveals he is looking much slimmer than before.
Wow, just when we thought My 600-lb Life couldn't get any crazier, we meet J.T., a patient who weighed nearly 900 pounds by the time he left his Oklahoma house behind to visit Dr. Now's offices in Houston.
J.T. is one of the heaviest patients to ever enter Dr. Now's care on the show, and certainly the heaviest one this writer has ever seen.
It's worth mentioning, though, that he also had a massive lymphedema on his leg that added an extra 100 pounds he had to carry, which brought his weight to a total of 892 pounds at the time of filming.
Now that a few years have passed since J.T.'s appearance on the show, people are wondering how he's doing and what he's been up to. So, here's an update!
In 2020, J.T. from 'My 600-lb Life' wasn't working and had a girlfriend.
So, we meet J.T. in 2020 in his modest Oklahoma house where he lives with his dog and girlfriend at the time, Jessica. He was 32 years old (he's now 35) and hadn't worked since he hit 700 pounds at 25 because he couldn't physically stand upright.
Jessica supported the household and always made sure that J.T. was well-fed. Because more so than the myriad of other patients we've seen on My 600-lb Life, J.T. is candid about how crucially obsessed and addicted he is to food.
"Nothing in my life can compete with how food makes me feel," he previously shared. He also admitted, "eating is better than sex for me and every time I take a bite it's like I'm transported to another world." J.T. added, "I can't imagine my life without it because it is my life. If I'm awake, I'm eating or waiting to eat, and if I'm sleeping, I'm dreaming of food."

— Mike Pierce (@mikethemovieguy) July 23, 2020J.T. managed to drop nearly 400 pounds while under Dr. Now's care.
J.T. reached a point where he was eating 24/7. He weighed "so much [he could] hardly move" which helped him to realize that "at any moment [his] heart could just give out." That's what prompted him to set off on a harrowing road trip to Houston to visit Dr. Now.
We'll save you some of the details, but essentially Dr. Now agrees to take him as a patient, though he advises J.T. he has to relocate to Houston because the back-and-forth is too much on his body and his lymphedema, which everyone is very concerned about. Jessica decides to break up up with J.T. because it's all just too much and she wants to go back to her regular life, and honestly, who can blame her.
This means that J.T. would need to lose the rest of the weight he needs to for the gastric sleeve surgery with the help of only Dr. Now and a cousin who comes to visit him in the Houston rehab and halfway houses he lives in ahead of the procedure.
By the end of the 12-month journey, after a few serious tete-a-tetes with Dr. Now ("You're killing yourself with food," he tells J.T. at one point. "What part of that is hard to understand?!"), he gets the surgery and ultimately sheds a total of 373 pounds. His final weigh-in shows 491 lbs.
After undergoing the surgery and dropping the weight, his next step was to remove the humongous mass on his leg, which Dr. Now was hopeful would take away another hundred-or-so pounds. Although we don't see that happen on the show, J.T. took to Facebook in February 2023 to share that he was finally undergoing surgery to have the mass removed from his leg. In the post, he also asked for a ride to Houston, which was later provided to him by his uncle.
What is J.T. from 'My 600-lb Life' doing now?
J.T. seems to be in a much better place these days. While his posts on social media are sporadic, we're able to conclude he's doing better based on his updated profile picture. In March 2023, J.T. updated his Facebook profile picture, revealing he's lost more weight as his face looks slimmer and his jawline is much more defined.
You can watch (or rewatch) J.T.'s experience on Discovery+ or Hulu and stream other seasons of the hit series.
