Jalen Anthony Rose is a former professional basketball player and current American sports analyst. He became famous as a member of the “Fab Five” of the University of Michigan Wolverines, along with Chris Webber, Juwan Howard, Jimmy King, and Ray Jackson. They reached the NCAA Men’s Division I Basketball Championship games in 1992 and 1993 as both freshmen and sophomores.
After his college career, Rose played in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a small forward for six different teams. He is best known for his stint with the Indiana Pacers, where he played alongside Reggie Miller and helped the team reach three consecutive Eastern Conference finals and the NBA Finals in 2000. Rose retired from professional basketball in 2007 and transitioned to a career in sports analysis for ABC and ESPN.
He is currently an analyst on NBA Countdown and Get Up! and is the founder of the Jalen Rose Leadership Academy. Rose is also an author and a producer. He wrote the New York Times best-seller, Got to Give the People What They Want, and produced the ESPN documentary, The Fab Five. In late 2022, Rose left his co-hosting position on the ESPN talk show, Jalen & Jacoby, alongside David Jacoby.

Jalen Rose’s parents are Jimmy Walker and Jeanne. His father, who was a No. 1 overall draft pick in the NBA and played in the 1972 NBA All-Star Game alongside Jerry West, but Jalen was never able to meet him in person. Although they spoke several times over the phone, Jalen’s father passed away from lung cancer in July 2007. While growing up, Jalen’s mother played a significant role in his life and encouraged him to pursue his love of basketball.
